Art Therapist – Part Time Contract | Flinders Medical Centre

Part-time Art Therapist contract through to 2030, delivering creative therapeutic care at Flinders Medical Centre within SALHN.

About the role: 

The SALHN Arts in Health Unit exists to bring arts and culture to everyday healthcare.

  • Supports increased access to arts engagement by facilitating individual, group and integrated models of care appropriate to service priorities and consumer needs.
  • Planning, developing and providing Art Therapy programmes to meet the needs of clients and their families across all areas of SALHN, as required by current strategic directions and/or as required, and including clients referred through the Electronic Management System. Ensuring a safe therapeutic alliance with all clients.
  • Ensuring self-reflective practices are maintained including regular clinical supervision.
  • Assessing resources required for Art Therapy and contribute to wise budget management.
  • Works collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members to identify and support opportunities for the integration of arts and cultural approaches into patient care.

About you:

  • Appropriate higher education qualification in Art Therapy and eligibility for Professional Registration with the Australian, New Zealand and Asian Creative Arts Therapy Association (ANZACATA).
  • Experience in the planning, implementation and evaluation of Art Therapy programs.
  • Significant experience working with people of varying ages.
  • Understanding of the stress factors associated with working within a hospital or special needs environment.
  • Proven organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines, delegate appropriately and demonstrate initiative.
