About the position

We are seeking expressions of interest from Ahpra registered dentists and oral health therapists who want to be considered as sessional academic staff members for the Clinical School of Rural Dentistry and Oral Health within the Department of Rural Clinical Sciences. We are seeking to develop a bank of casual staff members to support the delivery of pre-clinical and clinical education within our simulated clinic at our newly refurbished clinical teaching building or at our Bendigo Health dental clinic; along with the potential delivery of theoretically based subjects across the Bachelor of Dental and Oral Health Science programs.
The teaching delivery will predominantly be within the clinical environment, but may include teaching theoretical knowledge in workshops and tutorials, as well as marking. All areas of practice within dentistry and oral health are sought and experience is welcomed. Additional training to increase scope of practice is possible.
Skills, experience, and attributes
- Current registration with Ahpra as a general dentist or oral health therapist.
- Relevant current practice expertise and experience in dentistry or oral health therapy.
- Ability to work with adult learners from diverse backgrounds and with different experiences and capacity.
- Ability to effectively work in contemporary higher education blended teaching environments. Experience working with education technology is an advantage.
- Demonstrated capacity to complete contracted teaching commitments within required timeframes.
- Ability to work productively and ethically in teams.
- Ability to adapt and respond effectively to complex and dynamic work environments.
- Demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills including communication and emotional intelligence, in all interactions with students.
