Carrier Operations Manager

  • Lead a critical national function
  • Drive efficiency and commercial value
  • Shape the future carrier network

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Carrier Contracts Manager to lead the optimisation and governance of our national 3PL carrier network. This role is critical to improving supplier performance, reducing cost-to-serve, and creating scalable transport and logistics solutions that support business growth and exceptional customer service.

You will take ownership of carrier relationships, contract performance, network efficiency and commercial outcomes, ensuring services are delivered safely, reliably and at the most effective cost. Working closely with Operations, Procurement, Commercial and Logistics stakeholders, you'll drive continuous improvement initiatives, strengthen governance frameworks and identify opportunities to unlock measurable savings across the transport network.

This is a highly visible role that directly contributes to business efficiency targets, operational resilience and long-term supply chain performance. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape carrier strategies, influence key commercial decisions and deliver meaningful business impact. Without this role, operations would continue in a business-as-usual capacity with limited performance uplift, increased service risk and potential upward pressure on transport costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Optimise and manage the national 3PL carrier network to improve service performance, operational efficiency and cost-to-serve outcomes.
  • Lead carrier contract management, supplier governance and performance reviews, ensuring service, compliance and commercial obligations are achieved.
  • Drive carrier sourcing, tender activities and rate negotiations to deliver measurable cost savings and long-term value.
  • Develop and implement performance frameworks, KPIs and reporting that enhance supplier accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Operations, Commercial and Procurement teams to identify network optimisation opportunities and support scalable business growth.

About You

  • Proven experience in transport, logistics, supply chain or carrier management within a complex operational environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with demonstrated success in contract negotiations, supplier management and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Skilled in analysing network performance, developing KPI frameworks and driving operational improvements through data-driven decision making.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills, with the ability to work across multiple business functions.
  • Relevant qualifications in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline, coupled with a continuous improvement mindset and a focus on delivering results.

You are a strategic and commercially minded professional who thrives on solving complex operational challenges and identifying opportunities to create value. Highly organised and results-driven, you bring strong attention to detail, a collaborative approach and the confidence to influence stakeholders at all levels. Most importantly, you demonstrate a strong sense of accountability and ownership, with a commitment to safety, operational excellence and delivering exceptional customer outcomes.

If you're looking for an opportunity to drive meaningful change, deliver measurable business value and play a key role in shaping the future of our carrier network, we'd love to hear from you.
