About Your Opportunity
You will play a crucial role in fostering and nurturing positive relationships between Seqwater, government entities, and elected representatives. Your main duties will involve representing the organisation's interests and strategically engaging with government officials and stakeholders. Additionally, you will support the executive and senior management in building and maintaining strong connections with key government stakeholders, all in support of Seqwater’s strategic goals. You will be across legislative and regulatory developments that have the potential to impact on Seqwater’s business and strategic priorities and effectively identify and help to implement engagement strategies to mitigate impacts. You will have a highly developed understanding of executive government decision making and public policy development processes. Experience working in a Ministerial office or in a senior Government agency role is desirable.
As a Senior Leader, you will also be instrumental in shaping Seqwater’s culture, driving improved performance, ensuring safety, and enhancing customer experiences with your exceptional leadership skills.
Key responsibilities:
- Work with Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to update and implement a comprehensive government affairs strategy aligned with organisational goals and objectives
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key government officials, Ministerial officers, and agencies, and represent Seqwater at elected representative briefings and at other forums.
- Manage and provide direction and guidance to a small team of Government Relations professionals
- Coach and mentor the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to build strong relationships with key external stakeholders to maximise stakeholder support for Seqwater’s corporate strategies
- Maintain an understanding of contemporary issues affecting the water industry and political landscape
- Provide strategic advice on government relations matters and potential impacts on the business; and recommend mitigating actions
- Advocate for the organisation's interests through direct engagement with government officials, policymakers, and relevant stakeholders
- Oversee organisational preparedness for annual Parliamentary Estimates hearings and Queensland Government budget planning process, in addition to Parliamentary and government briefing materials.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, political science, public policy or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven experience in government relations, with a minimum of 10 years' experience
- Experience mentoring and leading a team of experienced advisers.
This position will be offered as an individual TFR package with an attractive salary and is a permanent full time role.
