About Your Opportunity

As the Senior Operations Process Engineer, you will provide deep technical knowledge and subject matter expertise to the development and optimisation of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) documentation and associated process, engineering and controlled documentation as part of the Operations Transformation Program, with a focus on developing and maintaining comprehensive O&M manuals and associated technical engineering documentations (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Function Descriptions Part A and B), that drive operational excellence, safety, and compliance across Seqwater’s diverse water infrastructure. You will lead the technical inputs for the projects and have responsibility for the review and development in accordance with Seqwater standards and policies, legislative and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide specialist advice in the technical development, review, and optimisation of O&M Manuals, Functional Descriptions (Part A and B), Standard Operating Procedures, and P&IDs for water treatment plants and related infrastructure.
  • Drive analysis of plant processes, performance data, and operational practices to inform documentation and support operational improvements.
  • Manage engagement with technical specialists in process and control systems engineering to meet program requirements.
  • Collaborate across operations, maintenance, and technical writing teams to produce accurate and practical manuals and controlled documentation aligned with Seqwater standards and industry best practice.
  • Identify and implement process optimisation opportunities that enhance operational efficiency and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Prepare and validate process engineering design deliverables for O&M documentation, including process descriptions, PFDs, and P&IDs.

The role also requires the flexibility to conduct travel and site work as directed, a valid C class Driver’s Licence, and the ability to participate in an on-call roster during significant water quality events.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemical, Process, Control Systems or Environmental Engineering (mandatory), with significant demonstrated experience and knowledge.
  • Current active RPEQ registration in a discipline relevant to the position would be highly desired.
  • Significant experience in water treatment process design, operation, or optimisation.
  • Expert-level understanding of operations and maintenance processes, documentation, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence, and persuade.
  • Practical knowledge and experience in the design, commissioning, and operation of water treatment processes, including technical reviews and hazard risk management.
