Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm; some evenings & weekends.


Job Summary: The Director of Academic Support for Capstone Center for Student Success (CCSS) develops, coordinates, and implements innovative and intentional academic support programs and services for students, including academic skills workshops, tutorial services, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, and academic and non-academic credit producing courses. Provides outreach and training to faculty and staff across campus to ensure that academic support programs and services meet the needs of both students and faculty and are widely accessible.


Additional Department Summary: Provides outreach and training to faculty, staff, and students across campus to ensure that academic support programs and services are meeting the needs of both students and faculty and that all offerings are widely accessible. Collaborates with other members of the leadership team to work towards a common goal of student success for all UA students.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of academic advising or student success experience; OR master's degree and six (6) years of academic advising or student success experience.


Skills and Knowledge: Highly developed positive interpersonal skills. Ability to collect, analyze, interpret, disseminate, and report data regarding program outcomes and services to internal and external constituents. Knowledge and understanding of best practices in student development, campus environments, community and student learning theories and their application in practice, and a tolerance for ambiguity. Knowledge and understanding of curriculum development and accreditation standards. Ability to adapt to change and be future-oriented with knowledge and understanding of best practices in student learning and their application in practice. Strong organizational and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to strict timelines.


Preferred Qualifications: Doctoral degree in education or related field. College teaching experience. Experience with learning enhancement and study skill strategies for college students. Experience with and understanding of higher education software and systems (Banner, Slate, DegreeWorks, Argos, etc.). Experience with advising, personal and academic coaching, teaching, advocacy, personal and career development, case management/outreach, tutoring, and/or mentoring.
