How can you make a difference? 

This position will provide HRBP support to about 50 staff in the Northern Region across two locations and support the UNICEF procurement hub in Termez in Uzbekistan, in line with the office decentralization strategy. This HRBP position will report to the People and Culture Specialist based in Kabul for close guidance, training and supervision, and with matrix management to the Chief of Field Office in Mazar I Sharif.

The HRBP provides support to the supervisor and colleagues in the unit by executing HR services through applying knowledge of theoretical HR models, as well as understanding of organizational HR policies and procedures.  The key functions and responsibilities include Business Partnering, Strategic Human Resources, Support to Implementation of assigned Human Resources Services, Learning and Capacity Development and HR Analytics, and dedicated support to staff members in Northern Afghanistan. The position will also serve as HRBP for the Programme Pillar at national level and support P&C center of excellence function related to Organizational Design, Workforce Planning, Talent Acquisition, Change Management, Career and Learning Development, Performance Management, and Employer Branding.

Minimum requirements:

  • A University Degree in human resource management, business management, international relations, psychology, or another related field is required.
  • Two years of professional experience in human resource management in an international organization and/or large corporation is required.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Desirables:

  • Demonstrated experience with UNICEF and hands-on application of the Human Resources Business Partnering (HRBP) model. 
  • Practical experience working with Human Resources IT systems and software 
  • Track record of success in navigating and contributing within complex organizational settings.
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergencies.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station is required for IP positions and will be facilitated by UNICEF. Should you be selected for a position with UNICEF, you either must be inoculated as required or receive a medical exemption from the relevant department of the UN. Otherwise, the selection will be canceled.
