In 2024, Chile reaffirmed its commitment to ending violence against children (VAC) at the First Global Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children (Bogotá), pledging to advance integrated and systemic violence prevention strategies, improve intersectoral coordination, and strengthen accountability frameworks. UNICEF Chile is supporting the Government of Chile in operationalizing these commitments through technical cooperation, policy dialogue, and programmatic support. The priority is to build a robust, multisectoral national response that protects children from all forms of violence—physical, sexual, psychological, institutional, and online.
The Child Protection Officer – Violence Against Children (VAC) NO-A reports to Child Protection Officer NO-B for close guidance and supervision. The Child Protection Officer (NOA) will provide technical, operational, and administrative support throughout programming processes, with a specific focus on strategies to prevent and respond to violence against children. This includes developing sustainable prevention models, supporting legal and policy frameworks, and integrating child protection perspectives into national and local public safety and development programmes, aligned with UNICEF’s Strategic Plan and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

1. Support to programme development and planning
• Assist in conducting and updating situation analyses on violence against children (VAC) in Chile.
• Collect and organize quantitative and qualitative data to inform VAC prevention strategies.
• Prepare draft reports and inputs to support policy discussions and programme documentation.
• Contribute to the drafting of programme goals, results frameworks, and workplans focused on violence prevention and child protection.
• Provide administrative and technical support in programming processes, ensuring alignment with national priorities on VAC.
• Assist in preparing documentation for programme reviews, funding proposals, and planning exercises.
2. Programme management, monitoring and delivery of results.
• Support the monitoring of VAC programme activities, identifying potential challenges and documenting good practices.
• Participate in monitoring and evaluation activities and assist in preparing materials for coordination meetings.
• Track resource utilization related to VAC activities, ensuring compliance with UNICEF procedures.
• Assist in drafting regular programme updates, including donor reports and internal monitoring documents, particularly on VAC indicators.
• Help document and escalate any implementation issues affecting VAC programming.
3. Technical and operational support to programme implementation
• Support field visits, as guided by supervisors, to gather information and provide technical assistance to VAC initiatives.
• Assist in promoting child protection and VAC prevention practices within public institutions.
• Support partner coordination and operational planning for implementing VAC strategies.
• Contribute to efforts promoting child-sensitive, survivor-centered, and trauma-informed practices.
4. Networking and partnership building
• Support the maintenance of effective partnerships with actors involved in violence prevention and child protection.
• Assist UNICEF representation in relevant meetings and inter-agency collaborations focused on VAC.
• Contribute to identifying resource mobilization opportunities for VAC initiatives and preparing related documentation.
• Assist in the development of communication materials aimed at raising public awareness on VAC.
5. Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building
• Support documentation of lessons learned and promising practices in VAC prevention.
• Assist in knowledge-sharing activities and preparation of training materials, guidelines, and tools.
• Support the organization of learning exchanges and capacity development initiatives.
• Keep updated on global research and emerging methodologies related to VAC prevention and support their contextual adaptation.

Minimum requirements:
- Education:
- University Degree in Social science, such as sociology, psychology, anthropology, or similar areas of study.
- Professional with studies or specialization in the prevention and comprehensive approach to violence in parental contexts and environments (school, community, and institutional) would be an asset.
- Work Experience:
- Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience in child protection, with a demonstrable focus on violence prevention and response.
- Strong understanding of VAC frameworks, protection systems, and the national and subnational context in Chile is required.
- Relevant professional experience in child protection, with a demonstrable focus on violence prevention and response is required.
- Experience working directly with families and children, as well as with public institutions at the local or national level in areas related to violence protection, security, or justice is highly desirable.
- Language Requirements: Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Knowledge of anotherofficial UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French or Russian) is an asset.

- Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
Additional requirements: Chilean Nationality is Required for this position.
