Job Description:

The Wilson laboratory in the Center for Research in Perinatal Outcomes, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology seeks a Postdoctoral Associate to contribute to our focused research program investigating maternal-fetal health and developmental programming. Our lab specializes in understanding how maternal stressors during pregnancy influence placental physiology, fetal development and long-term health outcomes.

The successful candidate will join a dedicated research team conducting translational studies using animal models, human tissue samples and cell culture systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to work within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment that spans basic science, translational research, and clinical studies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in conducting experiments using animal, cell and human tissue models
  • Perform laboratory techniques including tissue collection, processing and analysis
  • Support studies related to pre-natal and post-natal outcomes
  • Conduct molecular biology techniques (PCR, Western blots, immunohistochemistry)
  • Maintain detailed laboratory records and documentation
  • Assist in data collection, analysis, and presentation
  • Help with laboratory management, maintenance and inventory
Expected Salary:

$60,000.00 - Salary is commensurate with experience level and in accordance with current NIH postdoctoral salary scales.

Minimum Requirements:

A PhD degree in Biology, Physiology, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Laboratory experience in molecular biology techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Strong problem-solving skills with proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Experience with animal handling and basic laboratory procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Experience with reproductive biology or pregnancy research
  • Familiarity with pregnancy and placental biology
  • Track-record of supervisory responsibilities
  • Experience with data analysis software
  • Experience working autonomously while maintaining effective team communication in an academic research setting
