Student Assistant - Non-Clerical

This position is open to all University of Florida degree-seeking undergraduate students registered at least half-time who are eligible to work on campus and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. A current Federal Work-Study award is required.

The Interdisciplinary Center for Biotechnology Research Monoclonal Antibody Core is currently accepting applications from Federal Work-Study Students for a part-time student assistant position. This role involves supporting daily laboratory operations, which includes laboratory maintenance, equipment monitoring, and general support activities. This position offers valuable experience in a research laboratory environment while ensuring that laboratory spaces remain organized, well-stocked, and fully operational.

Applicants should be able to learn new laboratory procedures quickly, pay close attention to detail, and have strong communication skills. Familiarity with computers is also important, as is the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Essential Duties

• Wash, sterilize, and organize laboratory glassware, instruments, and supplies.
• Prepare buffers and laboratory solutions according to established protocols.
• Monitor and restock laboratory supplies.
• Assist with biohazard waste processing and autoclave operations.
• Monitor liquid nitrogen and CO₂ levels and assist with tank replacement as needed.
• Perform routine laboratory maintenance, including cleaning equipment, incubators, work surfaces, and freezers.
• Receive, unpack, and organize incoming laboratory supplies.
• Report equipment or facility concerns to laboratory staff.
• Perform other laboratory support duties as assigned.

Schedule

• 10 hours per week.
• Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
• Flexible schedule based on class commitments.

$15 per hour
