This position will provide specialized coding support to the physicians in the Department of Neurological Surgery for the coding of operative cases and consultations. The person in this position must have a thorough knowledge of anatomy, surgical and medical terminology coding, a working knowledge of the billing requirements of insurance carriers, and the operating procedures of the department and the hospital. Every effort must be made by the incumbent to remain informed and accurate on coding methods to insure maximum reimbursements for all charges, and to remain within the very strict guidelines imposed for coding and billing medically-related charges. Wells Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Florida, College of Medicine is committed to providing comprehensive clinical services for the diagnosis, management, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients suffering from diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and nervous system, including brain tumors, aneurysms, stroke, epilepsy, functional disorders, and spinal disorders and injuries.
