Attend Police Academy or a cross-over academy as a police recruit for the purpose of obtaining a Florida law enforcement certification. Employee will attend all classes/functions as prescribed and scheduled by the Police Academy and class instructors. Employee will study and pass exams for the following coursework: Law enforcement vehicle operations, First aid for criminal justice officers, Criminal justice firearms, Criminal justice defensive tactics, Dart-firing stun gun, Criminal justice officer physical fitness training, Introduction to law enforcement, Legal, Interactions in a diverse community, Interviewing and report writing, Fundamentals of Patrol, Calls for service, Criminal investigations, Crime scene to courtroom, Critical incidents, Traffic stops, DUI traffic stops, Traffic crash investigations, and Scenarios. Upon successful completion of the Police Academy, employee will be required to register for, take and pass the Florida law enforcement state certification exam administered by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. This position is a initial position (non-certified police officer) which must transition to a full-time law enforcement officer at the University of Florida. This position is designated as an Essential Employee. Essential employees provide vital support to the UF and are subject to recall to work when deemed necessary by the Chief of Police/designee. Recall to work typically happens due to an emergency, disaster or special event that may coincide with the official suspension of classes and/or closing of offices.

The Foreign & International Research Specialist/Professor of Legal Research will be part of the Lawton Chiles Legal Information Center’s public services team with a focus on curating our extensive foreign & international law collection along with developing instruction and programming relating to foreign & international legal research. The ideal candidate would be interested in ensuring preservation of and greater access to our Caribbean and Latin America legal collections. This position will participate in a variety of LIC functions including providing reference services and faculty research support, classroom teaching, and other instructional activities at the University of Florida’s Fredric G. Levin College of Law. The Foreign & International Research Specialist/Professor of Legal Research reports to the Assistant Director for Public Services. Professors of Legal Research are full time 12-month non-tenure track law faculty members and receive competitive benefits including professional development accounts to support attendance at academic conferences, vacation, sick, and holiday leave, medical and dental insurance, and retirement plans. Similar to other non-tenure track positions at the University of Florida’s Fredric G.
