| The Facility Operations Specialist (FOS) position is responsible for the direction, coordination, and administration of the assigned facilities including, but not limited to, administrative information/data processing, physical plant maintenance, security, communications, property and space accountability, and emergency operations. Serves as a representative for building occupants/departments. This position provides a consistent and recognizable Point-of-Contact for not only the occupants but also for other UF campus entities, outside agencies, vendors, and service providers. This position is required to work on-site during regular business hours. This position will primarily support the Stetson Medical Sciences Building, Academic Research Building, and Harrell Medical Education Building, but will also assist with other HSC facilities as needed. |

| This position is a staff member of the Healthcare Education Insurance Company (HEIC) which is a single parent captive insurance company established by the Florida Board of Governors domiciled in the State of Vermont responsible for the oversight and management of the professional and general patient related liabilities for the State of Florida. This position is also part of the workforce for the distinct component entities serving the governing councils of the University of Florida J Hillis Miller Health Center Self-Insurance Program (UF SIP), Florida State University Self-Insurance Program (FSU SIP), University of Central Florida Self-Insurance Program (UCF SIP), Florida Atlantic University Self-Insurance Program (FAU SIP), Florida International University Self-Insurance Program (FIU SIP), and the Florida Board of Governors (collectively SIPs). The University of Florida serves as the pay agent for the staff members serving HEIC and the FBOG SIPs. The incumbent is responsible for the identification, investigation, analysis, and evaluation of the medical, legal, and fiscal issues related to covered claims, potential and asserted, against protected participants of UF SIP; the management and resolution, including denial, settlement, or defense, of all covered claims; the coordination, management and execution of all presuit legal and administrative processes required by Florida Statute; the coordination and management of litigation processes in defense of lawsuits filed based on covered claims; the identification of risk factors which cause or contribute to claims and suits. |
