The Jumpstart Site Manager is an exempt 11-month position reporting to the Associate Director of Student Employment. The Jumpstart Site Manager will oversee the daily operations and implementation of the Jumpstart program. This includes planning and conducting initial and ongoing training for Team Leaders and Corps members in collaboration with Team Leaders, as well as attending and observing Jumpstart sessions monthly to foster a culture of excellence among Corps members. The Site Manager will coordinate and communicate the responsibilities to corps members, provide performance reviews for students each December and April, meet weekly with Team Leaders, and maintain detailed and accurate records. Additionally, the Jumpstart Site Manager will represent the University to partner schools and parents by engaging in regular communication with early childhood directors, conducting end-of-semester needs and progress assessments, and meeting with parents to explain the mission of Jumpstart when needed. The role also involves developing and disseminating information about the Jumpstart program and its mission.

Duties

  • Provide leadership training, supervision, and mentoring to Team Leaders and Corps Members.
  • Supervise the implementation of Jumpstart sessions.
  • Communicate daily with student staff regarding Jumpstart session and program management.
  • Advertise, recruit, and speak on behalf of Jumpstart to the University and community.
  • Attend Student Affairs Gatherings and events.
  • Assess preschool needs and assign appropriate human resources while overseeing child data management.
  • Maintain and develop program partnerships to include stakeholder management.
  • Develop and maintain publications and promotional materials.
  • Prepare annual reports and support with annual grant and budget application process.
  • Plan special events related to Jumpstart.
  • Arrange and supervise staff retreats, special programs, receptions, and presentations.
  • Attend/make presentations on Jumpstart at conferences.
  • Maintain accurate records through electronic reporting systems (Salesforce, Egrants, etc).
  • Management of University credit card including budgeting, allocations, and substantiations.
  • Be knowledgeable of and communicate risk management to students and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree, 2-3 years of prior work experience. Ability and willingness to travel to assigned locations/sites as necessary. Experience and comfort working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities. Ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours. Strong organizational, management and leadership abilities. Self-motivated, resourceful, and takes initiative.  Ability to work well under pressure and to be adaptable, flexible and accommodate shifting priorities. Ability to prioritize and multi-task in order to meet key tasks as scheduled. Commitment to Jumpstart’s core values: learning, community, inclusive leadership, joy and social justice. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with higher education partners, community partners, preschool staff, and the general community. Proficiency with Google Suite Software.

Preferred: Prior experience/interest in early childhood education (teaching), social justice, or diversity, equity, and inclusion work. Prior work experience in a higher education setting and/or managing college students. Former Jumpstart service/employment.

This is a Restricted, Exempt, 40 hour per week, 11-month per year position with two vacancies.

Expected Pay Rate: $5,647.25 per month

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
