The International Programs (IP) Budget Analyst builds and monitors the annual budgets within and across IP programs based on approved strategic funding and strategic plans. They conduct analyses that drive decision making and resource allocation in alignment with the mission of International Programs and Pepperdine University.

Duties

  • Global Budget Management: Responsible for management of the entire IP budget worldwide. Own all steps of the budget process, making decisions on the budget development and the strategic allocation of resources across currencies and financial systems. Build and monitor the annual budgets across International Programs based on approved strategic funding and strategic plans outlined for each program. Develop, administer, and maintain the IP major equipment and R&R budget in coordination with the Directors and Dean. Ensure proper allocation, disbursement, and use of designated gift and scholarship funds based on signed donor agreement stipulations and restrictions.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee and/or process a variety of complex financial transactions. Review and approve requisitions for payment, student charges, student government association fees, program fees, petty cash, flight invoices, Global Campus Staff Reimbursements & Travel Expenses. Provide tailored student data and financial information to student accounts for IP rate tables and student charges. Reconcile monthly management statements and create check requests. Manages monthly meal plan disbursements to students abroad. Serve as Payment Request System 1st Approver and Alternate. Coordinate ADP and payroll information worldwide.
  • Program Management: Independently create budgets for summer faculty-led programs, by assessing the fiscal feasibility of programs, establishing budget limits, producing budget templates, managing program budget meetings, and reconciling and distributing post-fiscal year budget reports. Maintain, update, and create new internal financial policies and guidelines as well as uphold university financial policies. Recommend changes in expense reimbursements, financial processes and protocols, and best practices in international programs financial operations.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Create intricate financial models to outline revenue and impact of existing and proposed ventures for simplified reporting to upper management. Conduct analyses that drive decision-making and resource allocation. Coordinate with the financial planning team and Seaver budget manager to ensure sufficient departmental budgets. Request budget adjustments as needed. Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analyses, clearly summarizing trends, forecasts, and metric analytics, along with resulting recommendations, as requested.
  • Advisory Role: Advise program directors and budget coordinators on department budgets, providing strategic financial guidance and expense analysis. Liaise with Finance; Student Accounts; IT; General Counsel; Planning, Operations, and Construction; Seaver College, University Management Committee. Consult with global IP staff on business practices, ensuring the proper allocation and use of funds in alignment with university and donor guidelines. Coordinate PeopleSoft training for new employes with Seaver and IT. Mentor and provide instruction for student interns to maintain the IP financial documentation such as suppliers, chartstrings, exchanges, and reporting.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's Degree. Experience in budgeting financial analysis and strategic planning. Three years experience in higher education administration or related fields. Experience in international budget and finance. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment. Knowledge of University organization, policies, goals and mission. Must be detail-oriented, organized with materials, and able to complete multiple tasks at one time. Ability to effectively work and collaborate across cultures in person and an online environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, Hyperion database.

Preferred: Master’s degree in accounting or related field. Experience in academic planning and financial administration.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position that may be eligible for remote or hybrid work in accordance with the University Policy Manual.

Expected Pay Range: $69,300 - $77,000 per year 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
