Kenyon College seeks a qualified candidate to fill the position of Assistant Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement. The Assistant Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement is part of a dynamic team within the Advancement division. The Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement (APE) oversees a wide variety of events, programs and virtual outreach designed to increase and support meaningful engagement for Kenyon’s alumni and parent communities. The ideal candidate will embrace innovation and strategic decision-making, thrive connecting with alumni virtually and in person, and be excited to work in a flexible, hybrid work environment with supportive co-workers.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Greek engagement and shape the strategy which is created in partnership with both the associate director and director with approval from the associate vice president.
  • In coordination with the associate director, support regional association events by setting up registrations and virtual invitations, providing alumni lists to regional volunteers and securing venues as needed. 
  • Serve as the engagement staff liaison to the 15th and 20th reunion classes in coordination with the associate director of annual giving
  • In partnership with the associate director of alumni and parent engagement events, support athletics event logistics when needed, such as registrations, invitations, securing venues and catering.
  • As a member of the Young Alumni Team, assist in developing and implementing young alumni strategy and outreach in collaboration with the associate director of alumni and parent engagement and the assistant director of young alumni and student giving.
  • Support and expedite the social media strategy in coordination with the associate director of alumni and parent engagement.
  • Plan and execute virtual events across a variety of topics and formats with a focus on the young alumni and student audience.
  • Manage the capture of engagement metrics and report data analytics to the department and division.

Non-Essential Functions

  • Perform other duties and special projects as required as part of a collaborative and close-knit Alumni and Parent Engagement team within the Office of Advancement.

  • Technologically savvy; ability to learn new software programs and interfaces quickly.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, student employees and volunteers.
  • Be outgoing and open-minded and possess a professional attitude.
  • Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage large, time-sensitive projects while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality of work. 
  • Ability to develop new methods, adapt to the changing needs of the office, and establish appropriate procedures.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure; not easily frustrated.

Working Conditions

  • Typical office environment; must be able to use office equipment such as computer, printer, copier, etc.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Hybrid work environment opportunities with the option to work remotely for part of the week during most of the calendar year.
  • Occasional night and weekend work and travel to regional events.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably from a liberal arts college.
  • Some experience in fund-raising, admissions, career services, alumni relations or a related field is preferred.
  • Must be able to initiate and maintain donor and volunteer relationships and communications on behalf of the College.
  • Demonstrated record of creative problem-solving with examples of successful efforts in building constituent confidence and relationships.
