About the role

The Cloud Operations Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the availability and optimization of services on our AWS cloud platform. You will have a Microsoft & infrastructure background, with deep knowledge across Windows servers and Active Directory. Knowledge of Linux is beneficial.

You will be a team player and enjoy engaging with delivery teams and other parts of the business to solve problems.

Duties

  • Ensure the availability, performance, security, and scalability of AWS infrastructure and associated systems.
  • Implement new resources according to the business requirements.
  • Optimize existing services due to cost savings opportunities / update releases correct service based on business requirements.
  • Create and maintain strong technical documentation for cloud platforms, systems and services.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills and experience

  • Ability to ensure the availability and performance of cloud services
  • Ability to work through service faults to resolution
  • Execute server builds and deployments into cloud environments
  • Deployment of native cloud services such as RDS, ELB, NAT, AWSBackup, Cloudformation, AWS Family Transfer etc
  • Support deployment of applications to Microsoft servers running in the cloud
  • Knowledge of software deployment and patching process to maintain Microsoft servers
  • Knowledge of scripting, preferably Powershell
  • Develop architectures and designs for cloud environments
  • Continuous improvement of platforms and systems, including patching, optimization, monitoring, automation & modernisation
  • Evaluation of new technologies and offerings as they become available
  • Work alongside Developers, Business Analysts and Project Managers in order to ensure successful technology outcome
