Job Responsibilities
The primary purpose of the CSI Coordinator & Student Success Advisor is to support The Citadel’s mission, which is to educate and prepare graduates to become principled leaders. Working under the supervision of the Executive Director of Student Affairs & Academic Services and the Director of Advising, the CSI Coordinator & Student Success Advisor contributes to the success of students by assisting with the development and implementation of retention, progression, and graduation initiatives and programs. In addition to this, the role is responsible for the following:
- Will plan and execute the CSI program and initiatives
- Participate in events to include; orientation, informational sessions, etc.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of the services and programs
- Will provide one-on-one advising sessions for current and prospective students
- Monitors student academic performance and attendance in collaboration with the Commandant’s department
- Maintains student records and data security
- Assist with referrals to campus services based on student needs; identify at-risk current and future students.
- Assist with the development and implementation of intervention strategies/programs
- Work with students on career-relevant programs of study
- Work with students on technology to include; DegreeWorks, Banner, Canvas, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling or related field
- At least three (3) years experience in student support within higher education
- Proficient in information technologies and should display a willingness to learn new technologies relevant to the position, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), as well as querying and reporting of specialized databases.
- Knowledge of the techniques and procedures involved in academic advising.
- Ability to work with students in a mentoring and service-oriented manner.
- Ability to think strategically and creatively with respect to the operations and programs of advising and student success.
Preferred Qualifications
- A master’s degree in education, counseling or related field.
- 5+ years’ experience in student support within higher education
- Experience with Banner student information systems
