The registrar works under the supervision of two ICU specialists during office hours in a 19 bed Level 3 ICU. There will be a senior registrar on site until midnight to provide clinical support and supervision. The registrar assesses and admits new patients, is actively involved in provision of therapy for new and existing patients (procedures, initiating therapy, organise investigations), and is responsible for providing medical escort for transfers out of the DCCM. The registrar also reviews critically ill patients outside the unit as clinical reviews and as part of a two tiered Medical Emergency Team (MET).

$91,442 - $129,391 per annum

Period of Employment

Fixed term, full time day work, 80 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 03 February 2020 (negotiable)

Essential Requirements

  • General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer.  The following checks are to be conducted:

1.  Conviction checks in the following areas:

a)  Crimes of Violence

b)  Sex Related Offences

c)  Serious Drug Offences

d)  Crimes involving dishonesty

2.  Identification check

3.  Disciplinary action in previous employment check.

Desirable Requirements

  • A minimum of three years postgraduate experience including 6 months of acute care experience
