Job description:

Manage the postgraduate medical education and training program and prevocational workforce within the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) and ensure that this is in accordance with the requirements of the Australian Medical Council (AMC) through the Postgraduate Medical Education Council of Tasmania (PMCT). This includes liaison with specialist colleges and the University of Tasmania.

The role:

  • Manage the postgraduate medical education and training program and prevocational workforce within the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) and ensure that this is in accordance with the requirements of the Australian Medical Council (AMC) through the Postgraduate Medical Education Council of Tasmania (PMCT). This includes liaison with specialist colleges and the University of Tasmania.
  • Provide guidance and support to the junior medical workforce of Launceston General Hospital
  • Facilitate training and education sessions in accordance with Accreditation Standards
  • Liaise with the Post Graduate Medical Education Council of Tasmania to deliver a fostering environment and pathway for junior doctors

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, part time, day worker position working 36 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until 1 April 2027

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

Visiting Medical Practitioners 

Visiting Medical Practitioners Level 1- Visiting Medical Specialists Level 4 $254,149 - $445,341 per annum, pro rata + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Salary range is in accordance with Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Agreement 2019

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
  2. *Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  1. Qualification in education/medical education
