Job description:

Perform basic and advanced radiographic imaging examinations with a primary focus on angiography and fluoroscopic studies. The position is focused on Interventional Radiology and Cardiac catheterisation (angiographic services)

Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is committed to all people needing our service and building on our core CARE principles. LGH is a 300 bed Regional Hospital teaching hospital situated in North of Tasmania, with a strong focus on education and specialist care. With a growing number of new Consultants to the region the opportunity to be a part of a new wave of healthcare in Launceston awaits. The population catchment for the Launceston General Hospital of approximately 250000, extends from the Northwest to the east coast of Tasmania.  The LGH is unique it the level of tertiary specialist medical services it has for a regional hospital, as such we see a wide range of presentations and complex medical imaging cases.

  • The LGH radiology department has an annual turnover of over 70,000 examinations and is staffed 24/7 with shifts and on call.

The role:

  • Perform basic and advanced radiographic imaging examinations with a primary focus on angiography and fluoroscopic studies. The position is focused on Interventional Radiology and Cardiac catheterisation (angiographic services).
  • The Specialist Radiographer (Medical Imaging Practitioner) is responsible for performing basic and advanced diagnostic imaging in both Interventional and Cardiac Angiography examinations, procedures and associated administrative tasks. We have an emerging interventional Radiology service that will grow as time progresses and a Cardiac service responsible for the North of the state.  This is a day work role that does require on call. 

  • The Interventional Lab established in 1996 has a strong endovascular history performing the first four fenestrated EVAR in Australia.

  • It also is one of the busiest Cath Labs in regional Australia performing 2000 exams including 600 PCI’s, annually.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker (with on-call) position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing commencing as soon as you are able to join the team.

Salary: $106,966 to $123,013 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement

  1. Registered with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia

    *Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  1. Prior Experience in Interventional Radiology Suites and Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratories.
