The Department of Health is seeking suitably qualified applicants for a Clinician Nurse Specialist role in the Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) Out of Home Care (OOHC) program. Please note this position is also being advertised as an Allied Health Professional.

We are seeking passionate and dedicated Clinical Nurse Specialists with experience in complex case management, assessment and trauma informed individual and family therapies.
Our Aim:
CYMHS in Tasmania is growing! The positions available are within our new teams which are currently being developed as initiatives under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, OOHC).
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will be part of the OOHC Program and will have a passion for providing a person-centred approach, trauma informed therapy, and working within a multidisciplinary team environment, providing high level clinical care.
The role will include:
- Being part of a dynamic and well-supported team committed to delivering high-quality, multisystemic, mental health services to children and young people in out of home care (OOHC).
- Undertaking clinical services through the provision of evidence-based assessment, therapies, and case management including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs.
- Working with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
- Participating in supervision, peer support and ongoing professional learning opportunities.
- Collaborating with care teams – that may include Child Safety Services, NGOs, Schools, psychiatrists, GP’s and other Agencies – to optimise service effectiveness, efficiency, and continuity of care.

Details of Appointment
Permanent full time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*Notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $103,466 - $109,165 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type.
- A multi-disciplinary allowance may apply to this position.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital-based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada, or the United Kingdom
- Current Working with Children Registration

- Holds, or is working towards, postgraduate in mental health qualifications.
