The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is a well-established mental health service in the North West region of Tasmania with a highly skilled and passionate team of clinician's, who are seeking allied health staff (Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists or Social Workers) to come and join our well supported and diverse team.

We are seeking allied health professionals with experience in assessment, case management, counselling and/or therapy, and within mental health or relevant/related sector would be ideal.  You would be working within a multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment with children, young people, and their families. 

Our Aim:

CYMHS North West aims to provide timely access to evidence based, trauma informed treatment for children and young people (and their family/carers) who are struggling/experiencing difficulties with their mental health that is negatively impacting on them and their engagement in school, with peers and/or other aspects of their lives. 

Your Role and the CYMHS North West Team:

  • Be part of a dynamic and well supported team committed to delivering high quality mental health services to children, young people and their families/carers
  • Undertake clinical services through the provision of assessment, case management, and individual therapies, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs
  • Work with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required
  • Supervision, peer support and ongoing professional learning are part of the culture of the CYMHS NW Community Team
  • Consult and liaise with the broader health system including GP’s and other Agencies to optimise service effectiveness, efficiency and continuity of care.

Details of Appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $106,966 - $118,114 per annum + 11.5% superannuation 

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $115,573 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum with the ability to accrue funds up to five years
  • Post graduate qualification salary advancement where applicable

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or
  • Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or
  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia; or
  • Degree or diploma in Applied Science, Speech Pathology or equivalent and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
  • Current Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Post graduate experience in mental health in relation to CAMHS
