Job description:

We are looking for permanent Grade 3-4 Registered Nurses to work in the Mental Health Short Stay Unit South.

The role:

As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Statewide Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Registered Nurse will:

  • Undertake the delivery of nursing care to consumers based on best practice principles, person centred, recovery orientated and trauma informed care, within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
  • Provide care to all consumers of the service, which includes comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments, active, therapeutic engagement, monitoring and review of mental state and response to treatments, ongoing psychotherapeutic work using arrange of modalities and techniques, within a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT).
  • Participate in the development and revision of organisational documentation and policies and procedures relating to nursing based best practice and the model of care.

The team: Mental Health Short Stay Unit

  • MHSSU is a 6-bed inpatient unit offering short term specialist assessment and treatment for individuals 18-65 years with acute mental health issues.
  • MHSSU staff work in close collaboration with RHH, Community Mental Health Teams, families and carers to deliver high quality, timely and appropriate care and treatment for clients of the unit.

Details of Appointment

Multiple Permanent, full time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $75,902 - $102,908 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
  • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $96,558 - $102,908 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  2. Current Driver’s Licence
  3. Current Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements)
    *Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  1. Possess specialist tertiary graduate or postgraduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification
