Job description:

Provides leadership to the Operating Theatre and Day Surgery environment at either the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) or Mersey Community Hospital (MCH).

The role:

The Nurse Unit Manager:

  • Provides leadership to the Operating Theatre and Day Surgery environment at either the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) or Mersey Community Hospital (MCH).
  • Ensures the efficient and effective provision of care, based on clinical standards and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework by coordinating the clinical, management, education, and nursing research functions within the Operating Theatre.
  • Leads and manages the coordination of overall patient care and is responsible for managing the allocated human, material, and financial resources for service delivery within the Operating Theatre.

The Area:

  • Position is based at the NWRH and has clinical and management oversite of the 4 theatre complex (3 operational), PACU and DSU 
  • Works collaboratively and in partnership with the Regional Surgical and Perioperative Services (SAP'S) 

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 3 November 2024.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $126,411 - $132,325 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  1.  Holds or is working towards relevant post graduate qualifications
