Job description:

Department of Health are seeking applications for a permanent full time Lived Experience Workforce Lead to join the Spencer Clinic team, part of the Community, Mental Health & Wellbeing branch, based at North West Regional Hospital.

The role:

The Lived Experience Workforce Lead will guide the development and embedding of the Lived Experience Workforce (LEW) in alignment with state and national policy frameworks and relevant LEW operational plans within Tasmania’s public mental health services at a regional level, to ensure a socially and psychologically safe environment for LEW employees.

The LEW Lead will ensure the provision of a supported, skilled, and effective Lived Experience Workforce through the delivery of discipline specific practice supervision, coaching, and mentoring to the respective region’s consumer and family/carer peer workers and the embedding of appropriate support and training strategies.

The LEW Lead will uphold and promote the Lived Experience principles and values, the principles of co-design and co-production to encourage a recovery-focused, person-centred, and strengths-based approach to all aspects of work whilst ensuring inclusive, equitable, and sustainable consumer and family/carer participation and engagement.

Want more? 1.5hrs drive will see you at Tasmania's infamous Cradle Mountain. 1hrs drive will see you in Stanley where you can traverse the Nut - the remains of an ancient volcanic plug which you can either climb if you are feeling fit or sit back and enjoy via a chair lift. 
  • This role is based within the Ward Spencer Clinic, a Mental Health unit that offers consumers 19 inpatient beds, including a high-dependency unit. Spencer Clinic is located within the exciting North-West Regional Hospital, barely 5 minutes from Burnie's CBD.
  • The incumbent will provide direct support to the consumers of Spencer Clinic and provide supervision to our Lived Experience Workforce within our Mental Health Services community teams in this region.

Permanent full time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $79,529 - $91,517 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Eligibility:

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  1. Personal experience of mental health challenges, service use, periods of healing/personal recovery, and/or

  2. Experience of supporting someone (family or friend) through mental health challenges, service use, and periods of healing/personal recovery.
  3. Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or willingness to work towards same.

  4. Current Driver’s Licence.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  3. serious drug offences

  5. serious traffic offences
