Job description:

Manage the provision of a safe and efficient clinical pharmacy service to inpatients of the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) and Mersey Community Hospital (MCH)

The Role:

Manage the provision of a safe and efficient clinical pharmacy service to inpatients of the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) and Mersey Community Hospital (MCH)

  • Coordinate the provision of clinical pharmacy services to hospital patients, aligning service provisions with relevant standards such as the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia Standards of Practice for Clinical Pharmacy and taking an active approach in aligning clinical service delivery with the requirements of the hospital and the resources available.

  • Implement service delivery frameworks such as the Australian Pharmaceutical Advisory Council (APAC) Guiding Principles to achieve continuity in medication management.

  • Measure and analyse information on the effectiveness of service provisions and adjust priorities and implement initiatives, undertaking projects and initiatives directed at improving service efficiency, patient care and medication safety.

  • Oversee the collection of performance indicators that are reported to pharmacy stakeholders including APAC performance and hospital-wide incident reporting.

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for clinical pharmacy activities and oversee accreditation for processes relating to clinical pharmacy.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible to October 2025.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $120,114 - $134,268 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

Please note that access to salaries beyond $126,845 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is approved until 17 May 2026, this allowance will be reviewed prior to expiry
  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council.

  2. Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia

    For pre-registration (intern) pharmacists: Eligible for provisional registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.

    *Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
