Job description:

Hospital Assistants act as a member of a team and performs duties consistent with quality improvement guidelines to provide hospital aide services, general housekeeping, porterage and catering duties to patients within the relevant Unit. They are employed within the Peacock building at the Repatriation Centre working across 4 units: Peacock 1, Acute Rehabilitation Unit, Peacock 3, and Whittle Unit.

The Role:

Acts as a member of a team and performs duties consistent with quality improvement guidelines to provide hospital aide services, general housekeeping, porterage and catering duties to patients within the relevant Unit.

  • Provide general housekeeping services to the relevant Unit.
  • Provide cleaning and maintenance of equipment and work areas in accordance with infection control guidelines.
  • Assist nursing staff in the transferring and positioning of patients by manual or mechanical means, in line with manual handling guidelines and legislation and other porterage services to patients as required.
  • Assist patients with aspects of daily living under the direct supervision of the nursing staff.

The Team:

Casual Hospital Assistants are employed within the Peacock building at the Repatriation Centre working across 4 units: Peacock 1, Acute Rehabilitation Unit, Peacock 3, and Whittle Unit. Hospital Assistants work closely with Nursing staff and patients on delivering an excellent service.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term casual, shift worker (set rotational) positions working when required, commencing as soon as possible for a period of 12 months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $60,666 - $63,222 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
