Job description:

Seeking multiple Registered Nurses-Student Midwife who, consistent with ongoing experience, strengthens health outcomes through the provision of quality, clinically appropriate midwifery care in partnership with women and their families/significant others and other health professionals while undertaking study that will lead to registration as a midwife.

The Role:

The Registered Nurse - Student Midwife:

As a student midwife in this exciting new service, you will have many opportunities to care for women and their babies from varied backgrounds, different social status, a range of beliefs and expectations and challenged with physical and obstetric conditions.

Our service is proud to offer an abundance of opportunities for our staff to learn and grow, and we are committed to ensuring our staff are practicing in a trauma informed, holistic and woman-centred way.

As a Student Registered Midwife you will be part of the team that delivers approximately 1000 newborn babies each year. With a 4 bed Birth Suite, 20 bed Maternity Unit and 8 bed Special Care Unit, your work will be fast paced and very rewarding. You will have the opportunity to work in various models of midwifery care including ante-natal, birthing and post-natal including community based post-natal care, Special Care Nursery and Midwifery Group Practice. 

Details of appointment:

Multiple Permanent full time, shift worker positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from 2 March 2025 until 15 March 2026.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $75,902 to $102,908 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Allowance 

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility:

Eligibility: Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

    • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
    • Confirmation of enrolment in a midwifery course accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
    • Current Working with Children Registration
