Job description:

The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) – Melanoma: Provides clinical leadership and direction to improve the quality and continuity of care and support provided to clients diagnosed with melanoma across the continuum of care in North/Northwest Tasmania. Provides a pivotal contact point for continuity of care for people diagnosed with melanoma. Provides authoritative clinical expert advice and supports the patient’s care from diagnosis and is an integral part of the multidisciplinary team throughout the patient’s care pathway. Co-ordinates implementation of care across different phases of the cancer journey and across health care settings to facilitate continuity of care and effective use of health care resources relevant to the needs of the person affected by melanoma.

The Team:

The Northern Cancer Service provides comprehensive specialist inpatient and outpatient Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Clinical Haematology Services to the North and North West Tasmanian community. This includes the state-wide brachytherapy service.

  • The Northern Cancer Service also plays an active role in cancer education and research within Tasmania.
  • The Northern Cancer Service is situated in the Launceston General Hospital, Mersey Community Hospital and the North West Regional Hospital complex and provides direct access to a range of medical, surgical and hospital services required to deliver quality, person-centred cancer care.      

The Role:

Provide expert clinical advice and clinical leadership regarding melanoma care to acute and community-based patients, family members, carers and staff within a multidisciplinary team.

• Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external service providers to achieve positive heath care outcomes for acute and community-based patients/clients and their families/carers.

• Report CNC- melanoma activity to MIA as per requirements outlined in the current MIA Funding Agreement.

• Develop and deliver educational programs which promote melanoma care standards and principles to support the professional development of staff and improve health care services delivery; and

• Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of quality practices, policy and procedure development and research activities to improve the body of nursing and melanoma knowledge.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term, part time, day worker position, working up to 30.4 hours per fortnight, commencing from 18 November 2024 until 30 June 2026.

Salary: $111,506 to $118,336 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023 and Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
