In this role you will perform a variety of pharmacy duties on a rotational basis following appropriate training. This may include providing coverage of pharmacy roles within other specialised pharmacy services. You may lead and/or participate in quality improvement, research and education of self and others.
You will provide a high standard of clinical care in accordance with professional standards, best practice and person-centred care to inpatients, outpatients, and staff of the Department under the general direction and guidance of the Relevant Team Leader or Manager across a range of specialty areas, including Clinical Pharmacy services, Dispensary services and Compounding and Cancer Support Services.
- Broad pharmacy experience in a range of complex or critical activities in areas such as dispensing, clinical pharmacy, and manufacturing in a hospital setting
- Ability to exercise a high level of initiative in the application of good medication management principles
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to contribute effectively as an active member of a diverse, multi-disciplinary team

The Team:
Statewide Hospital Pharmacy, led by Executive Director Tom Simpson, provides hospital pharmacy services to patients of Tasmania’s acute public hospitals through on-site pharmacy departments, and a remote service to the district hospitals.
Services include clinical and specialist pharmacy services, dispensing medications, on-site doses of chemotherapy, involvement in local national and international clinical trials and specialist support services including the telehealth-based Remote Clinical Pharmacy service.
Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, shift worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible and for a period of up to 9 months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $106,966 to $118,114 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
Pharmacist
- A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro rata is approved until 17 May 2026, this allowance will be reviewed prior to expiry

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of
Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment
through the Australian Pharmacy Council.
- Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
- For pre-registration (intern) pharmacists: Eligible for Provisional registration with the
Pharmacy Board of Australia.
