Job description:

Department of Health are seeking applications for a fixed term full-time Specialist Pharmacist - Information Management to join the Public Health Services team, located 108-110 Collins Street, Hobart

The Role:

The primary purpose of this newly created role is to provide information and data management support for the Pharmaceutical Services Branch through established procedures and guidance of the Senior Pharmacist - Information Technology, with a focus on ongoing support of the national Real Time Prescription Monitoring system, and other regulatory systems, to ensure they continue to meet the needs of the Department including regulatory, clinical, financial, logistic, and reporting requirements.

Carry out a range of functions relating to the regulation of manufacture, distribution and use of drugs and poisons in Tasmania.

Some of the duties include:

  • Support the day-to-day operations of the various health and regulatory information technology applications of the Pharmaceutical Services Branch with a focus on the administration of the national Real Time Prescription Monitoring (RTPM) system and its interfaces to related systems.
  • Provide specialist support to internal and external stakeholders to assist them in their usage of systems to effectively meet operational needs including undertaking operational support tasks such as user account management and user training.
  • Identify opportunities for system modifications and/or configuration changes to improve efficiencies, increase effectiveness and safety and support other quality attributes.
  • Maintain system data integrity (eg dispensing, prescribing and regulatory data) and provide information system reports as and when required to support management of vendor service level agreements and contracts.
  • Contribute to implementation and review of policies, protocols, business continuity procedures and other quality assurance documentation in consultation with business unit staff.
  • Undertake systems testing including user acceptance testing of changes to both the application itself (e.g. upgrades and patches) and its environment (e.g. upstream or downstream systems).

Details of appointment:

Fixed term full time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 30 June 2026. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022

Allowances: 

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $115,573 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme 

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Pharmacy Board of Australia

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or completion of an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council.

  • Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Current Driver’s Licence

  • Experience with the administration of health information management systems or further qualifications in health informatics would be an advantage

  • At least three years’ practical experience as a pharmacist subsequent to initial registration
