The Role:
This is a new role within the Department of Health (DoH) Communications team requiring advanced knowledge and experience of developing and delivering digital communications strategies and output for a range of digital channels.
The Digital Communications Officer will:
- work with the Strategic Communications Team to develop, deliver and evaluate a range of internal and external communications for DoH
- manage and develop written, visual and audio content using a range of platforms and tools, including Meta, Drupal, Brolly and Adobe products
- be familiar with working with a broad range of stakeholders with diverse requirements
- take a lead in the filming, editing and posting of video content for use across DoH’s digital channels
- assist the Graphic Designer with the design and production of high quality interpretive, promotional and informative materials in print, digital and online formats
- will ensure materials are fully accessible and adhere to the DoH Corporate style guide
- ensure comms materials enhance and promote the positive work Department of Health (DoH) in line with DoH strategic plans and priorities
- utilise analytics and data to inform the creation of digital content and evaluate the effectiveness and engagement of content
- are full accessible, ensure comms are representative of the stakeholders and communities we serve
- ensure output provides concise, relevant and informed materials to allow stakeholders to make informed decisions about their healthcare.

The Team:
The Strategic Communications Team sits as part of the Office of the Secretary and is responsible for managing the Department of Health’s corporate image, public profile, internal and external communication channels, including social media. Our role is to ensure the voice of the Department of Health is heard; that DoH projects are visible, and that all communications are effective.
This includes providing overarching strategic guidance and advice, managing all media, public relations, social media activities, and ensuring consistency and alignment with the Department of Health’s strategic aims, goals, and priorities. We do this to deliver excellence in healthcare and achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
Details of appointment: General Stream, Band 5
Permanent full time, day worker (with on-call), working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $95,393 to $100,067 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
