The Role:
- Coordinate and facilitate all inter-facility transfers’ around Tasmania via road, fixed wing, or rotary wing, including interstate transfers, in collaboration with members of the AMR team and the relevant public and private facilities.
- Provide guidance and assistance to the SOC with the coordination of prehospital medical retrieval team responses to complex emergencies and retrievals, providing specialised clinical input to the AT Retrieval Consultant, hospital specialist teams, and search and rescue teams.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels between AMR and key stakeholders, including Tasmanian hospitals and facilities, private hospitals, private transport providers (including the Royal Flying Doctor Service), interstate health facilities and retrieval services, particularly Air Ambulance Victoria (AAV).
- Contribute to strong team cohesion through open communication and a positive support approaches, working effectively with members of the broader healthcare team.
- Support and provide clinical leadership within the AT team in the coordination of patient transfers through the effective allocation and prioritisation of retrieval resources.
You will need:
- Highly developed clinical knowledge, skills, and experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting, including expertise in emergency care, and the ability to apply best practice principles in the delivery and coordination of nursing practice within the clinical setting.
- Demonstrate high level time management and organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise clinical and administrative tasks, along with proven leadership skills to support the AT team and work effectively within a busy multidisciplinary environment subject to work pressure and change.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills, including oral and written, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and a proven ability to provide specialist advice, educate, influence and be credible to a range of health professionals and consumers.
- Demonstrated high level problem solving, conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to make independent and collaborative judgments.
- Ability to utilise computerised information and telecommunication systems, including maintaining exemplary records and high level data collection.

The Team:
The Clinical Nurse Specialist - Retrieval Coordination (CNS - RC) works closely with the Ambulance Tasmania (AT) Critical Care and Retrieval (CCR) Unit and the State Communications Centre (ComCen) and enables the retrieval system to deliver exemplary service for Adult, Paediatric and Neonatal retrievals within Tasmania and interstate.
Details of appointment:
Fixed term, casual, position working as and when required, commencing as soon as possible for approximately twelve (12) months
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $103,466 to $109,165 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Plus 25% Casual Loading - Equivalent of $65.20 to $68.79 per hour.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
