The Role:
The Preanalytics team are the 'gate keepers' for samples received into Pathology. They are responsible for determining if samples and request forms are appropriate for analysis, working 24/7. Preanalytics team members also perform a referral role dispatching samples nationally and internationally. The performance of this role is monitored using relevant KPIs.
You will need:
- Previous experience in specimen reception and data entry functions within a diagnostic laboratory environment.
- Ability to work as the sole technician on an out of hour’s roster.
- Ability to apply standard operating procedures in the work environment.
- Ability to contribute and work as a member of a team.
- Excellent communication skills.

The Team:
Pathology Services at the Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest public pathology provider. The successful applicant will join the Preanalytics team performing receipt, accessioning and data entry of specimens for analysis. All our departments work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
Details of appointment:
Multiple fixed term full time or part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately twelve (12) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $71,661 to $77,455 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

An Associate Diploma from a recognised tertiary institution, or an *equivalent qualification, appropriate to the nature of the work OR relevant training and/or experience determined in accordance with the provisions of Section 37 of the State Service Act 2000.
