Job description:

Exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Department of Health!

Mental Health Consultation Liaison Clinical Nurse works as part of the multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Statewide Mental Health Services Strategic Plan and service principles.

Providing a specialist psychiatric consultation liaison service to all departments across the Royal Hobart Hospital for people admitted with physical health concerns and concurrent mental health issues. Our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumer, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

Provide an advanced level of clinical expertise to undertake comprehensive mental health and risks assessments, provide monitoring and review of mental state, provide advice and make recommendations about care in consultation with medical staff from the Mental Health Departments (MHD), the Mental Health Consultation Liaison Team and other health care professionals involved in care.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated specialist mental health nursing care knowledge, with advanced clinical leadership skills within a mental health acute care setting, with the ability to collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary teams to provide a responsive service.
  • Specialist advanced knowledge and skills in mental health assessment, formulation, care planning, including risk management and monitoring outcomes within a multidisciplinary team and consultation skills to enable care to be delivered within a general hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with a proven ability to build effective workplace relationships and foster a cohesive team approach, and network with others.

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $114,841 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Allowances: 

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
  • Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, and accredited hospital-based program that lead to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom.
