Job description:

The Department of Health is seeking an Adult Day Centre Assistant for the King Island Hospital & Community Health Centre

The Role: 

The Department of Health is seeking an Adult Day Centre Assistant for the King Island Hospital & Community Health Centre. Join a close-knit team at the King Island Adult Day Centre, where you'll assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating activities under the supervision of the Adult Day Centre supervisor. This permanent role focuses on creating engaging, individualized activities for clients while meeting Aged Care Quality Standards. With 30 years of service, the Centre offers a holistic approach to community care. Enjoy a great work-life balance and explore the remote beauty of King Island during your time off.

You will need:

  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals and groups, assist clients with personal care, encourage participation and improve quality of life through selected activities, as well as practical knowledge of craft and leisure activities and the ability to develop programs which support improved quality of life for clients.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to show sensitivity and acceptance of diversity, health limitations and disability in others.
  • A current driver's license is highly desirable, along with the ability and confidence to drive a small 5-seater bus carrying clients.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working up to 20 hours per fortnight.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar part time and casual vacancies.

Salary: $62,486 to $65,119 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Allowances: 

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. 

  • District Allowances of up to $4,618 per annum for a family 
  • Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of $3,699 per annum and an additional salary allowance of 10%
