We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Consultant with experience in complex case management, assessment, counselling and/or therapy, and within mental health or relevant/related sector would be ideal.  You would be working within a well-supported, diverse multidisciplinary team to provide, clinical co-ordination, assessment and developmentally appropriate therapeutic interventions to meet the needs of young people and their families/significant others who present with very high and complex care needs.

This newly created role will be supporting an identified cohort of young people and the people/services involved in their care.  These children and young people who have complex mental health issues, experience and face a difficult future and warrant specialist expertise to intervene as early as possible to change their life trajectory and bring about better quality of life outcomes.

Our Aim:

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service in Tasmania is growing! We are seeking passionate and dedicated senior clinicians to provide clinical services to children, young people and their families/significant others experiencing complex mental health concerns. These new positions will work alongside existing CAMHS services and have been developed as initiatives under the CAMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care).

The Regional Complex Case Coordinator will have a passion for providing a person-centred approach and working within a multidisciplinary team environment, providing high level clinical coordination.

  • Leadership training is available and provided by the Tasmanian Health Service in partnership with University of Tasmania.

The role will include:

  • Being part of a dynamic and well supported team committed to delivering high quality mental health services to children, young people, and their families/carers.
  • Providing specialist clinical coordination service that supports right place, right care principles to facilitate determined need, and undertaking high level assessments and developing an individual plan that includes bringing together the right mix of services across government and non-government agencies.
  • Promoting a positive working culture by developing effective partnerships and exceptional working relationships with all stakeholders, both within the Agency and with external community service providers, and providing services that are person- centred, high quality, sustainable and responsive to ongoing quality improvement.
  • Working with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term full time day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of twelve months.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $111,506 - $118,336 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type 
  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
  • A multi-discplinary allowance may also apply
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital-based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom
  2. Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.
  3. Current Driver’s Licence.

  1. A minimum of 3 years current post graduate experience in a field relevant to the position
  2. Holds, or is working towards, post graduate qualifications relevant to the position
