Job description:

Provide leadership and manage the coordination all resources used in sterilising services, as well as sterile stock management and storage from an organisation wide perspective

The Team:

North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) services the population of both the North West and West Coasts of Tasmania, providing a base for both planned and emergency episodes of care. Central Sterilising Department (CSD) is responsible for reprocessing reusable medical devices (RMDs) required to facilitate all of these episodes of care. We collaborate with multiple internal departments including:

  • Operating Theatre, Intensive care Unit, Accident and Emergency, Outpatients, Radiation / Oncology, Podiatry, Inpatient wards, and Maternity Services; as well as some external departments such as Family Planning and the Parenting Centre to ensure that there are always adequate RMDs available at any given time to for the required provision of care to be able to proceed.

The Role:

The role of the Nurse Manager (NM) of CSD is to:

  • Provide leadership and manage the coordination all resources used in sterilising services, as well as sterile stock management and storage from an organisation wide perspective
  • Support the efficient and effective provision of patient care, based on clinical standards and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework by coordinating the clinical, management, education and nursing research functions for CSD
  • Ensure that all Australian Standards are met for reprocessing of RMDs (including specific flexible endoscopy requirements). This also includes:
    • Water quality monitoring and reporting – coordinating any required corrective actions
    • Liaising with company representatives to ensure that maintenance and service contracts exist for all reprocessing equipment, and that the terms and conditions of these contracts are adhered to
  • Oversee the coordination of complicated orthopaedic loan kits that are used on a regular basis at NWRH

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, day worker, working 12 hours per fortnight, from 24 February 2025.

This vacancy is for Monday shifts.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $122,365 to $129,060 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
