Job description:

Provide compassionate and empathetic care under the supervision, delegation and direction of our Registered and Enrolled Nurses in accordance with the nursing care plan.

The Team:

The Medical Ward at Mersey Community Hospital consists of 33 beds providing Palliative Care, Geriatric Care, and a mixture of acute and sub-acute medicine. This ward bustles with activity and is committed to delivering high quality care to a variety of medically admitted patients.

The Specialist Palliative Care Inpatient Service is closely aligned with Community services to deliver specialist care to patients with an acute onset of symptoms or in the terminal phase. Work is under way to develop a Geriatric Evaluation and Management model of care that will support patients to be cared for while being able to engage in active therapy and social activities. Staff in this ward should have an interest and or experience in general medical and sub-acute nursing care.

The Role:

In this rewarding role, the AIN carries out their duties under the supervision, delegation and direction of our Registered and Enrolled Nurses in accordance with the nursing care plan. 

You’ll provide compassionate and empathetic communication whilst assisting patients with their daily routines, including showering, dressing, nutrition, pressure injury prevention and mobility.

You’ll keenly observe those in your care, while working with the RN and/or EN in establishing priorities for patient care delivery, actively participating in and contributing to the organisation's Quality and Safety and Work Health and Safety Processes.

Details of appointment:

Multiple permanent part time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions, working up to 64 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agree upon date. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $64,985 to $71,008 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Acute Care); or

  • Certificate III Individual Support (Ageing Specialisation); or

  • Is currently an undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing student who has completed their first year clinical practice placement; or

  • A current Diploma of Nursing student who has completed their first clinical practice placement

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Current First Aid Certificate
