The Role
Under the broad direction of the Principal Policy Officer, the primary objective of the Policy and Project Officer is to work within the Directorate to deliver high level policy analysis and advice; draft high-level documentation and implement projects aligned with the Directorate’s strategic policy agenda; and provide guidance to the Policy and Project Support Officer role/s and other team members as required.
- Provide detailed advice and high-level analysis to portfolio Ministers, the Secretary, Agency colleagues and other stakeholders on alcohol and drugs and suicide prevention strategic policy issues.
- Undertake projects that contribute to the successful implementation of strategic initiatives and approved service priorities in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, including review of project outputs and outcomes, and the preparation of project documentation, project status reports and communication strategies as required.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to support the planning, coordination, development, monitoring, and delivery of specific projects.
- Undertake research and analysis, including review and monitoring of the strategic international, national and local policy environment, and current and emerging issues.
- Prepare high level briefings, reports, plans, business documentation, submissions and correspondence for senior management, the Secretary and Ministers.
- Represent Public Health Services in stakeholder forums, on committees, working parties and other groups as required.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with government agencies (local, state and Commonwealth), community sector organisations, and other key stakeholders.
Details of Appointment
Fixed term, full time day work position working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible for a 12-month period

Classification:
Salary $107,899 - $122,292 per annum (pro rata) + 11.5% superannuation
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
