The Team:
The State Communications Centre is where the delivery of Ambulance care begins, for our patients and is based in Hobart. The Centre provides telephone triage, clinical advice and dispatches ambulance resources in the most effective and efficient manner.
The Role:
The occupant of this position will undertake an operational management role in overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Communications Centre unit.
You will need:
-
- Providing direction and supervision to a small team of communication officers, ensuring services comply with national standards and operational policies.
- Allocating and monitoring resources to meet service priorities. Reporting regularly to the Operations Manager, Communications Centre in relation to service activities, performance of the team and issues which may impact on the team’s ability to deliver services.
- Ensuring the Communications Centre works as a cohesive unit, including facilitating regular team meetings, ensuring each team member has a current personal development plan and promoting opportunities for training and development.

Details of appointment:
Multiple Positions:
One permanent, part time, shift worker position, working up to 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
&
One fixed term, full time, shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 31 October 2025.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary:
$122,145 to $186,961 pro rata per annum + our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Ambulance Tasmania Agreement 2022
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Allowances:
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.
- Registered with the Paramedicine Board of Australia.
- Holds a Bachelor of Paramedic Science or other qualification approved by the Service and relevant work experience with an additional qualification in management or equivalent.
- Current Driver’s Licence.
