
The Team:
The Correctional Primary Health Service (CPHS) is part of the Tasmanian Health Service and provides primary healthcare to people in custody in Tasmania. We care for up to 800 people at a time, making us the largest primary healthcare provider in the state. This position enables you to lead and coordinate clinical activity for clients who are eligible to receive comprehensive AOD service.
The Role:
- Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and other key stakeholders within Government and also Non-Government organisations
- Gives you the opportunity to provide high level AOD leadership using evidence-based practises.

You will need:
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of Alcohol and Other Drug Services, contemporary evidence-based nursing practices, relevant legislation and ANMC competencies.
- Demonstrated capacity to effectively undertake a coordination/leadership role within alcohol and other drugs service within a correctional setting, including providing supervision and support to other staff as required.
- Ability to coordinate and manage all facets of the ORT programs within a correctional primary health setting, including assessment, monitoring and discharge planning and maintaining required documentation.

Details of appointment:
Permanent full time, day worker (with on-call) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Correctional Allowances:
- Correctional allowance of 6.5%
Benefits available to eligible candidates:
- Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
- Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
