Job description:

The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest hospital in the state and is the major provider of public endoscopy procedures. Assist the Nurse Manager with the planning and management of staff and resources and provide operational leadership to the booking team to ensure the efficient and effective utilisation of procedure sessions via planned endoscopy and surgery waiting lists.

The Team:

The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest hospital in the state and is the major provider of public endoscopy procedures including the community Direct Access Endoscopy pathway, diagnostic investigations emanating from the National Bowel Cancer Screen Program, and waitlist management for Gastroenterology and General Surgical Clinic referrals for endoscopy procedures.  The Surgical and Endoscopy Access Unit is responsible for endoscopy waitlist management, perioperative optimisation, and the scheduling and communication of all planned endoscopy procedure sessions for the Surgical Short Stay Suite at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The Role:

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) is an experienced nurse who, within the Endoscopy Access booking team:

  • Works in partnership with the Nurse Manager (NM) and other senior staff, to ensure the efficient and effective utilisation of procedure sessions via planned endoscopy and surgery waiting list bookings, maximising organisational resource efficiency to meet patient care needs.
  • Assists the NM with the planning and management of staff and resources and provides operational leadership through the coordination of the day to day endoscopy booking activities, including engaging the team with referral management, the Anaesthetic Assessment Clinic, procedure booking in the inpatient perioperative units, and communicating with inpatient bed units for patient flow.

You will need:

  1. Demonstrated clinical experience in the provision of endoscopy services and/or planned procedure waitlist management, with the capacity to provide clinical leadership, exercise professional judgement and initiative and work with minimal supervision.
  2. Demonstrated ability to understand the business of endoscopy services in delivering the best outcomes within available resources, including a demonstrated understanding of patient flow principles and discharge planning in the pursuit of patient/client goals within the Department of Healths Statewide Endoscopy Four Year Plan 2023 - 2027.
  3. Demonstrated ability to contribute to the evaluation, innovation and development of services provided by the unit/service and the review of clinical practice policy, procedures and protocols.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term part time, day worker position, working 64 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of twenty-one (21) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
