Job description:

The Alcohol and Drug Service provides services to clients seeking treatment for Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug use. Manage the delivery of services provided by the multidisciplinary team, including the allocation of human resources and provision of professional leadership and direction in treatment interventions strategies, health promotion and community education.

Please note this position is also being advertised as a Team Leader South (500978) and only one position will be filled on merit. Please note this position is eligible for a Multi Disciplinary Allowance.

The Team:

The Alcohol and Drug Service sits within the Department of Health and provides services to clients seeking treatment for Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drug use. All components of the service work closely to delivery excellence in ATOD care to achieve imporved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

Manage the delivery of services provided by the multidisciplinary team, including the allocation of human resources and provision of professional leadership and direction in treatment interventions strategies, health promotion and community education.  The occupant will also act as a specialist in their field, providing advice and support across a broad range of alcohol and other drug issues.

The Nurse Manager will:

  • Provide leadership and manages the coordination of Alcohol and Drug Service (ADS) South within a health service/facility.
  • Support the efficient and effective provision of care, based on clinical standards and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework by coordinating the clinical, management, education and nursing research functions for the ADS South within a health service/facility.
  • Be responsible for the day to day management of the ADS South Community Team, Pharmacotherapy and Administration Teams.

You will need:

Specific Knowledge

  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge, skills and experience in relation to treatment of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.

Skills

  • Leadership skills – Individuals will demonstrate capability to provide the team with a clear direction, inspire a positive attitude and a desire to succeed in staff members at all levels, and will persuade others and influence outcomes (internally and externally).

Personal Qualities

  • Communication – Individuals will demonstrate advanced communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and an ability to liaise on complex issues

Details of appointment:

Permanent full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible. 

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $122,365 to $129,060 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

  • Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
