We are seeking senior allied health professionals with experience in clinical leadership, complex case management, assessment, counselling and/or therapy, and within mental health or relevant/related sector would be ideal. You would be working within a well-supported, innovative, diverse multidisciplinary team to provide developmentally appropriate treatment with young people, and their families.
Our Aim:
The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) in Tasmania is growing! We are seeking passionate and dedicated Lead Practitioners to provide clinical services to young people and their families/significant others experiencing mental health concerns. The positions available are within our new teams which are currently being developed as initiatives under the CYMHS reform program (Youth, Youth Forensic, Out of Home Care).
The Lead Practitioner will have a passion for providing a person-centred approach and working within a multidisciplinary team environment, providing high level clinical leadership to the team.
- Leadership training is available and provided by the Tasmanian Health Service in partnership with University of Tasmania.
As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Services Principles, National Metal Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Clinical Nurse Consultant - Clinical Lead will provide high level support to the Team Leader, within the relevant community mental health service.
The role will include:
- Being part of a dynamic and well supported team committed to delivering high quality mental health services to young people, and their families/carers.
- Undertaking clinical services through the provision of complex case management, assessment, and individual therapies, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs
- Working alongside innovative team leaders and consultant psychiatrists to develop new youth mental health services in Tasmania.
- Leading and working with an amazing and diverse group of clinicians as part of the collaborative multidisciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.

Details of Appointment
Two permanent full time day worker positions working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Salary: $114,851 to 121,886 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
- Relocation assistance and visa support may be available for the right applicant.
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $126,845 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital-based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom
