Job description:

We are seeking an enrolled nurse to work in a rural facility with an extended scope of practice in a small team across inpatient, outpatient & emergency care. Supported by a clinical educator & experienced senior staff.

The Team:

Smithton District Hospital (SDH) is small sized sub-acute public hospital located in Smithton Tasmania. It services the whole Circular Head region with a catchment population of 8000 people.  

The Hospital has 12 subacute beds accommodating general medicine, post-acute, palliative and end of life care. We have a 3 bay Emergency First Response unit staffed by nurses and General Practitioners (Rural Medical Practitioners) who are contracted to provide on call medical services. No surgery is performed at this hospital.  

SDH offer outpatient services including low risk chemotherapy and supportive treatments for cancer patients, blood products and iron transfusions for acute and chronic conditions. 

The Role:

As an enrolled nurse in a rural facility you be expected to work with an extended scope of practice as you will be working in a small team across inpatient, outpatient & emergency care.

You will be supported by a clinical educator & experienced senior staff

You will need:

  • Due to very limited public transport, a drivers licence would be an advantage

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, shift worker position, working 40 hours per fortnight, commencing from a mutually agreed date.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $70,980 to $78,179 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available: 

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type

Salary Packaging:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse (holds a Board-approved qualification in administration of medicines)
