The Team:
This position works within the Specialist Palliative Care Service (SPCS), Hospitals South. The Executive Support Officer supports the Medical Director (Head of Department) of Palliative Care and supports the Assistant Director of Nursing and Nurse Unit Managers within Community Palliative Care, Palliative Care Hospital Consult team and Whittle Palliative Care - inpatient Unit at the Repatriation Centre. The Specialist Palliative Care Service works closely other providers within Hospital South to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce and the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
- Provide high-level executive support and administrative duties to prepare correspondence, reports, minutes, meeting schedules and other business-related documents for the SPCS.
- Under the direction of the Head of Department, Palliative Care and other senior palliative care medical specialists and the Assistant Director of Nursing, Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) assist with project support work and research, including the preparation of correspondence, submissions and reports.
- Maintain and monitor information relating to the overall business-related performance of palliative care by setting up and maintaining databases, extract, compile and verify statistics, and generate reports and other information.
You will need:
- Demonstrated high-level administrative and organisational skills with experience managing a high volume workload and delivering quality outcomes within tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to utilise health information systems and software applications, to create and maintain databases, prepare correspondence and generate reports.
- Demonstrated ability to use initiative and a commitment to continuous quality improvement with the ability to interpret and analyse relevant information and decide on an appropriate course of action.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $73,811 to $79,779 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022
