
The Team:
Peacock House opened in 2023, and focusses on providing warm, welcoming and trauma-informed care to people experiencing mental health relapse or distress. Peacock House works closely with the peer lead services at Peacock Centre, including the Integration Hub, the Safe Haven and the Recovery College.
The Role:
The Clinical Nurse Consultant - Peacock House will support the Manager of the Peacock Centre by assuming a lead role in the oversight of designated clinical and operational processes associated with the optimal operation of a community-based inpatient mental health team, including admission and discharge, rostering and staff replacement, development of clinical and operational documentation, overall treatment and care, incident management and general team coordination. They will provide clinical leadership and expert knowledge in all aspects of treatment and care. Further, they will actively participate in all multidisciplinary review processes at the unit level as required, including supporting staff to develop, monitor and evaluate clinical outcome measures.

You will need
- Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to manage and coordinate the clinical activities of a multidisciplinary community -based adult inpatient mental health team with the ability to assist the Unit Manager in relation to the effective management of human and physical resources.
- Demonstrated specialist level knowledge and advanced practice in relation to the field of acute community-based inpatient psychiatry, including a proven ability to provide a range of assessments and specialist treatments and interventions consistent with the endorsed Operational Service Model.
- Demonstrated capacity to effectively undertake a consultation/leadership role within a multidisciplinary community-based adult inpatient setting, including providing supervision and support to other staff as required.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $114,851 to $121,886 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
Salary Packaging:

- Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
