This specialist in-reach service provides timely support to residents in Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs) who are experiencing severe to extreme Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD). The Role:
Ensure the delivery of a comprehensive clinical service through the provision of assessment, case management and individual therapies, including specialised therapies for clients and their families or carers.
Provide evidence-based assessment and treatment interventions for clients with major and complex mental health problems, including the development and implementation of specialised treatment programs.
Function as an active member of a multi-disciplinary team, including the provision of support and consultation to other team members as required.
Prepare specialised reports as required.
You will need

Demonstrated leadership skills and proven ability to manage and coordinate the clinical activities of a multidisciplinary adult inpatient mental health team with the ability to assist the NUM/ADON in relation to the effective management of human and physical resources.

Demonstrated specialist level knowledge and advanced practice in relation to the field of acute inpatient psychiatry, including a proven ability to provide a range of assessments and specialist treatments and interventions.

Demonstrated capacity to effectively undertake a consultation/leadership role within a multidisciplinary adult inpatient setting, including providing supervision and support to other staff as required.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, day worker position, working76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of up to fifteen (15) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $106,570 to $112,440 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom

Current Driver’s Licence
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

Extensive, relevant psychiatric nursing experience and/or is credentialed as a Mental Health Nurse by the Australian and New Zealand College of Mental Health Nurses Inc. or equivalent

Holds, or is working towards, relevant tertiary qualifications
